export iPhoto 11 library to a new mac with Photos 1.5

Hello, all,

My old MacBook Pro is running Mavericks with iPhoto 11. I need to import nearly 3,000 photos to my new MBP which is running El Capitan and Photos 1.5. Of course, I'd really like to keep them organized into the events they are now in. I have connected the computers via Bluetooth which works fine for all the other files but I cannot seem to make it work for my photos. Can anyone help me?

Thank you so much.

No exporting or importing - simply move the library and drag it to the Photos icon in the Dock to migrate it to Photos - and note that Photos 1.5 is about two years out of date and is missing many, many bug fixes adn new features in the current version, Photos 3.0
