How much does FileVault encrypt?

I was thinking of installing Windows on my Mac. I currently have FileVault turned on on my Mac. I also want to encrypt the Windows partition as well. When I have FileVault turned on, does it encrypt the whole disk? Or does it just encrypt the partition FireVault was turned on, and not the other partitions?
