Constant prompt for password in iCloud for Windows

Running Windows 10 1709, all updates. Starting a few days ago, iCloud is constantly asking me for my credentials. I provide them, go through the process of approving the login on my iPhone, then enter the numeric passcode. It appears to accept it, then 15 minutes later, it asks me again.

I do have Outlook 2017 (latest version with Office365) but this looks like a iCloud prompt, not an Outlook prompt:

How do I make it happy?

An addition: in my searching, I saw that some applications want an app-specific password. I created one but iCloud doesn't accept that at all.

I also logged out and logged back in (a tedious process), and even uninstalled and reinstalled iCloud for Windows without any change.

I am having the same problem, it started a few days ago.

i've uninstalled, reinstalled, ran the apple software updates, etc

nothing i get the prompt you displayed then i verify on my phone. icloud on windows doesnt sync

It was an hour, now it's every few minutes. At this rate icloud is completely unusable with Windows 10 / Outlook. I don't have exchange either i'm using regular standalone Outlook. It seems something broke in the last update.

yes same here. This has been going on for over a week.

Its constantly popping up, if i sign in, i then have to reverify on one of my ios devices

and then it still isn't syncing.

I've had outlook on my computer for years and not a problem

i dont have it connected to icloud at all

I have the same. I'm prompted for the password for iCloud when the PC starts up and then an hour later it re-prompts me to re-authenticate, and so on and so on .............
