A 2TB USB Western Digital HDD shows in System Report but doesn't mount. What could be the problem?
I tried it on Mac OS 10.9.5 as well as on 10.10.5
Running 'diskutil list' doesn't list it either.
Could be a failed WD device, bad cable, could be too much power being drawn, bad USB port, etc.
Try connecting the WD device to a different computer system and see if it works there, try connecting the device via a different USB cable, try removing all other USB devices and unpowered hubs and the rest and other than a keyboard and mouse if you're using those and test the WD device again, try using a different USB port on the system, etc...
Did you try rebooting with the drive plugged in?

@MrHoffman I tried it on two Macs. Will try it now on a newer hard ware...
If you tried it on two different computers and with different USB cabling and it failed to mount on both, then it’s most likely a corruption or failure with the WD device. Contact WD support.
