Random pictures appearing in iPhoto library?

After updating my iPhone 8 Plus to the iOS 11.3, I noticed on two separate occasions that I had random pictures appear in my photo library. The first time I noticed, the photos said they were taken on a day I was at home and had not taken any pictures. One was a screenshot of text messages to someone who was not in my contacts and the other was a landscape view of snow and mountains and trees. The second time was this evening and it was a picture of some flyers from my university that were taken on a day when I was at home and had not used my camera on my phone. Is anyone else having these issues?? I’m really freaked out.

The iOS 11 upgrade may have rebuilt the Photos Library and added photos back from a long time ago, that have been lying around in the Photos Library, but have not been visible because they lost the connection to the thumbnails. Such scavenged older photos may not be showing the correct date. On a Mac you may be seeing such photos in an album "recovered items".
