I have a unlocked iPhone 7 Plus which I purchased direct from Apple but when I tried to use it in Mauritius it tells me the sim is not supported

Hello I have an unlocked iPhone 7 Plus , I purchased it direct from Apple and Have used it in several countrie. I was recently in Mauritius and I tried to use a sim there and got a sim not supported message. Any idea why this is, it is definitely unlocked as I purchased it direct and Have used it in several countries.

thanks

It is not unlocked. No one here can help you. You probably bought a SIM free phone (not the same as unlocked) which will lock to the carrier that it is used to first activate the phone. You sure you did not purchase it from CarPhone Warehouse?

In any case, you would probably need to take it to an Apple Store in the UK. Call Apple Care; they will probably be able to tell you to what carrier the phone is locked to.
