Why do I have to have a debit card? To get apps
i can’t even update my apps on my iPhone because of credit card issues I need to please know how to get around this problem I can’t enjoy my device

You don't need a payment method on file to update apps or download free content, but if you have one it must be valid and have funds. See Change or remove your Apple ID payment information - Apple Support and/or If you can't choose None when you edit your Apple ID payment information - Apple Support.
