Mighty Mouse Battery Life

Been running both for about 3 months, and not had to change batteries yet, they are used every day.

I am using rechargable battries for both keyboard and mouse. Heavily used. still the batteries lasted one month before recharging. I never switched them off till now.

I see there are a lot of posts about the battery life of the mouse.

But, I’m more puzzled with the short lithium battery life. Why does one battery show almost half power and the other one just slightly weak? How can the drain be different when the batteries are in series?

Re-setting the SMU, System Management Unit, seems to fix it for a short period, about 3 months. If I replace the batteries without re-setting the SMU, then the batteries last only a couple of weeks, if that.

BTW, I can not imagine using any battery other than lithium! No problem with the keyboard. Ray 🙂

The charge of batteries suffices for one month. The mouse never I switch off.

Thats good to hear. I've just ordered a MacBook (my first Mac) and was thinking about getting a bluetooth Mighty Mouse.

After reading these comments, i'm definitely going to get the bluetooth version.

I have been using a Microsoft Notebook Laser Mouse until it recently started acting erratically with my MacBook Pro. I had used it for some months with an older iBook with mostly good results. It was less than 9 months old when it went bad for good.

I looked at many alternatives and read user reviews of all wireless and bluetooth versions. In the end I too went with the Apple Mighty Mouse. Quality, like pretty much all of the rest of Apples offerings is first-rate (been a Mac user for 8 years now).

I've only had it for a short time but I feel the response and solid connection make it worth the extra cost. The old saying "you get what you pay for" applies here. I have not noticed any strange behavior that others have reported and don't expect to. Apple's hardware just works in my humble opinion.

The two batteries are wired in parallel. You can install just one battery and have a lighter mouse (but the battery won't last as long).
