CD burner won't complete burn

Just upgraded to 10.4.8 and had no trouble burning a disk from iTunes, but when I tried to burn some pics from my burn folder, when it was nearly complete, a message came up that said that the connection to the CD burner was lost and the burn did not complete. The discs that I tried both are now unreadable by the computer. By the way, it is the original CD-RW/DVD drive that came with the system.
Does anyone have an idea as to what is the problem here?
Thanks!

The Media you were using is more than likely the issue.
use the highest quality media on your projects, and you will have your best luck using -R Media as well.
Some of the cheaper, high speed media has shown to be a problem as well, only the higher quality high speed Media works consistatly, in the slower optical drives.

Here is a good guide.

CD's are not as bad as DVD's but this quality guide is good to follow for both.
Be sure you let it verify at the end.
