iMovie shutting down when I try to upload movie

My iMovie keeps shutting down when I try to upload my video onto youtube. It also won't let me save it as a file either. A message just pops up saying "iMovie quit unexpectedly" and it gives me the option to reopen and send a report to Apple. This happened yesterday and today multiple times and I have tried restarting my computer. My computer is updated and everything so I don't know why iMovie is giving me such a hassle.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, It is actually version 10.10.5

Hi,

Try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys, and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. Sometimes that cures issues. If it still doesn't work, try reinstalling iMovie.

No, your projects will remain intact with a reinstall of iMovie. Just reinstall the app itself. Do not delete the iMovie Library folder. Your projects are stored in a separate folder titled IMovie Library that is found in your Mac's Movies folder. Deleting the iMovie app will not delete the library folder. When you reinstall iMovie, the reinstalled iMovie app will access the same library folder with your projects in it.
