id and password deemed invalid

Tried to redeem itunes balance to gift a movie. My id and pw were rejected as invalid. Had this id and pw on all apple devices long time. Finally, after 2 days forced to change apple pw only to have new one rejected along with verification code. Frustrated--Angry.
