Time Capsule Backup Stuck On Loading Backup
OK. I’m extremely frustrated here. Mac user for 17 years and I’m about to throw this stuff all in the trash and smash it.
I bought a brand new MacBook and a Time Capaule at the end of December and after 5 months, thousands of dollars and multiple weeks of having devices repaired / rebuilt, still nothing is working. I’ll spare the details of the 20 hours spent in the “Genius” bar and the long list of hardware replacements required on this “Product.”
Where I am is that I got my laptop back from the Apple Store yesterday. It has a new logic board and everything is wiped. Ok. No problem. I bought a $400 AirPort Time Capsule to make these sorts of things easy, right? WRONG!
I plug everything in, the MacBook asks if I want to restore from a backup. I proceed to select the AirPort Time Capsule as the location and it shows me the two backups that exist on it. One is of an old 2011 MacBook Pro and the other is of this machine. I select my backup and I go to continue but the continue button is greyed out. Under the backup, I see the message ”Loading Backup”. This message has been on the screen for 3 hours.
What’s going on here? This backup is max 150gig. It shouldn’t take this long with a USBc connection. Is it working? How can I go about ensuring that my battery doesn’t die as I wait since I only have 1 USBc port that can be used either for transfer or power? Are you going to try to sell me an adapter so I can spend my time to fix the broken laptop you sold me? Do you see how insulting this is? At what point do you compensate me for my labor?
MacBook Air, macOS Sierra (10.12.5)
