Can deleted encrypted flash drive files be recovered from internal hard drive?

I own a Mac OS Encrypted Journaled flash drive on which I contain confidential information. My question is the next, using this description to paint a picture:

I connect my encrypted flash drive to my High Sierra Macbook, unlock it and view my files. Afterwards, I decide to erase a file from the encrypted flash drive, and I do so. I then “empty” the trash, and proceed to eject and disconnect my encrypted flash drive. Is it possible for someone to recover the deleted file from my Macbook’s internal hard drive? It’s a Solid State Hybrid Drive.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Just by chance, I recovered an old file that was deleted everywhere else, when I looked at a USB drive using Disk Utility and found it half full, but nothing showing in Finder. I opened the Trash folder and there it was, waiting to be "Put back". So, the moral is, to empty the Trash after deleting from an external drive, while it is still connected, as you have done.

Though, of course recovery software may get the items back anyway and encryption of both the internal and external drives is always a good idea to prevent this.
