Erase Hard Drive

Former iMac hard drive died. How to erase/make sure ALL contents on drive are erased and drive is empty before destroying.

If you can boot into Recovery Mode you may be able to erase the hard drive in Disk Utility. If not, you may be able to put the drive in an enclosure and connect it as an external drive, after replacing the old one.

Alternatively you take out the drive and physically destroy it.
