About the screens you see when your Mac starts up - Apple Support

Try Booting into Recovery (Command R) and from the dropdown menu: Utilities> Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD

One possibility is a corrupted boot volume, where it's getting stuck because there's some critical OS file that's missing. I've heard of it possibly stalling indefinitely, shutting down (that happened to me), or restarting. It's almost always at the same point on the progress bar.

Running First Aid from an external boot drive (if you've got one) or from Recovery HD or Internet Recovery might fix the problem, but isn't guaranteed to.

Do you have a backup? Worst case scenario is that everything is unrecoverable and the only practical thing to do is reformat the drive and start over with a clean OS install. Also - what model MacBook Pro?

Does your charger show green or amber—this would indicate you have power. If nothing is indicated at the magsafe light, the battery is dead and no AC from the power brick.

If that is the case then the best you can do is take it in:

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test
