Connecting a VGA to MacBook pro 2016

I have tried to connect a VGA thunderbolt 2 to the Thunderbolt 3(USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter so that I can use a projector with my 2016 MacBook Pro - touch bar (Sierra) but nothing happens p- it doesn't detect the monitor/projector. I have tried clicking on 'option' and then 'detect displays' in the Displays Preferences but nothing happens - it's as though it isn't connected at all? I'm n to sure what type of projector it is. Any advice?

MacBook, macOS Sierra (10.12.6), touch bar

That double combination of adapters will not work, instead use:

A - if the projector has a VGA connection- USB-C to VGA adapter

B - if the projector has an HDMI connection- USB-C to HDMI adapter

Only Buy Apple or Belkin adaptors as they are guaranteed to work with Apple Mac.

You can generally not "stack" adapters. You need to make the complete conversion in ONE adapter, or you get nothing.

In particular, the ThunderBolt-3 to ThunderBolt-2 adapter does not produce a directly-usable display signal of any description -- it is ONLY for ThunderBolt connection and NOTHING else.
