It is possible, however SMS will stay in the carrier's cue for a while. Send them another message if they have not responded to you. SMS does not come with a delivery or read receipt, so there is no way to be absolutely certain that a message was delivered and read.

It's generally spelled "queue" if that makes the word seem more familiar. Messages only say in the queue for a short while and they are delivered as soon as the phone is connected to the network again. I agree with Chris. If the phone has been reconnected with the network, either the person got the message and hasn't replied or they didn't get it (actually the less likely possiblity). Sent another message.

Actually, it's very rare. SMS will go through even when don't have enough signal to make a call.
You don't have to send him a message saying "Did you get my message?". Just send one that says, "Hi, how's your trip going?" or whatever you would say even if he'd gotten the message. Of course, if the original message was, "I never want to see you again", I'd just leave it alone. š
Best of luck.
Cue is how things wait to be delivered. If they have not connected to cellular or cellular data, then the message may not have sent, but if it has been 5 days, I'd say that if it hasn't been delivered by now, it isn't going to be. Is there a problem with you sending them another message, or re-sending the original one?
For iMessage to work both parties have to have an active internet connection. If you have it set to Send as SMS, that is how it is sent, but the receiver would have to have an SMS/MMS plan on their account and connect to cellular soon after the message is sent. I've never dealt with a delivery more than a day, but some will say it can be two.
Thank you for the reply. We have both sent many imessages before with no issues. However, he was on a plane when I sent this message and it turned green and I got no reply. Itās a guy I was dating and to be honest I donāt want to be following up five days later asking if he got my message or not. Hence, the reason Iām not sending another message :-/ I just wanted to know the possibility of him not receiving the message.

Thank you so much for your reply. Made me smile and you are right, I can always send a casual message. Iāll try to give myself more time for now. Hoping for the best. Thanks again!
I hope everything turns out alright.
A long time ago, I had two phones, one for work and a personal phone. More than once, I sent myself messages from my work phone just to be certain I was getting text messages. I would do this when a certain someone didn't respond for a long time. So, I think I know how you feel.

š Duh, no wonder they asked. And what is even worse, is I know that. What was I thinking?? š
Sorry! I know you know!
