Macbook Pro and Ipad compatibility

iOS Apps (the kind that run on your iPad) cannot be run on a Mac. Different platforms.

You can however access the Rand McNally Website on your Mac and use the maps that way: http://maps.randmcnally.com/

Ask Rand, et.al. It's their program. You need two versions. One for the iPad and one for the computer.
