Second in a phone old like 5s, depending on how you used the home button, it is very likely that you encounter this. You may want to activate the Asistive virtual button (at least to have a virtual home button on your screen and be able to somewhat use your phone), but you need to visit an Apple Service to get it fixed (not sure if it will not be cheaper to just change you phone entirely).
