Dimensions/Resolution of Album Artwork?

What are the dimensions/resolution of Album Artwork in iTunes? Is there a maximum resolution? If so, what is it?

I'm creating Album Artwork for my own home recordings, so wan't to know what resolution to use for the files.

It depends only on the size of the file that was downloaded.

I don't believe there is a maximum. I've seen Album Art larger than what my screen could display.

Personally I like 500x500 dpi which is commonly found on the Internet when downloading artwork.

Thanks for your answer.

To obtain more useful information, I bought a song from the iTunes Store, and measured the Album Artwork dimensions using Preview. It was 600 x 600 pixels exactly. I don't know if all official artwork from the iTunes Store is 600 x 600, but this particular one was.

I then bought another song from the iTunes Store, and that was 600 x600 as well. So, I'd say that 600 x 600 pixels is the official Album Artwork size.
