upgrading my os 10.6
How can I upgrade my MacBook Pro to the latest OS if I'm currently running 10.6.8?

It depends on what MacBook Pro you have, you may find that your Mac is too old for High Sierra, if so you can upgrade to Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11.6) which is still available for those whose Macs are not compatible with High Sierra. If your MBP can upgrade to macOS High Sierra you still need to upgrade to Mac OS X El Capitan as an intermediary step, because you are on Snow Leopard.

You will need to find out if third party apps you use have updates available so you can use them on HS or El Capitan. And also check if your printer/ scanner or other hardware you use with your MBP has drivers available so they will continue to function under the newer OS's.
Please make a full backup of your MBP before you attempt to upgrade.
