iPhone X fullscreen video in Camera Roll

When double tapping a video from the Camera Roll or Files app to zoom edge-to-edge on the iPhone X screen the video instead zooms in 1:1 like a photo. Pinch-to-zoom works but is slow and unreliable when centering the video. The only way I can get a video file to play edge-to-edge is by running it through iTunes into the TV app and play it under Home Movies. Is there any way to get the edge-to-edge video playback in the Camera Roll or Files apps?

Videos not playing full screen My iPhone 11 Pro will not play videos full screen in landscape. This includes videos I recorded in landscape. I have to manually expand the video, if I tap the screen it expands to big. This is also happening in apps such as Facebook & Apple TV. I am in the latest iOS and have tried resetting standard, zoom settings in Display & Brightness as suggested in other posts. This is a real pain, if a bug, is it being worked on?

iPhone Xs max crops video in landscape mode In the last week or so my iPhone Xs max, iOS 12.4.1, has started cropping TV video in landscape mode. It displays the full frame in portrait mode but crops a bit off the top and bottom of the frame when turned to landscape. It always used to display the full frame in landscape. In landscape not all screen space is used and the cropped frame is pinned to the top of the screen. A double tap on the screen expands the width of the frame to the width of the screen, but it stays pinned to the top of the screen and the top and bottom remain cropped despite available screen space. Going to zoomed mode did not influence the crop. Looking for suggestion on how to get the phone to display full frame TV in landscape mode.
