What message do you get when you say the phone will not let you do it? You need to know your son’s password in order to turn off Find My iPhone. You can also do it on a computer logged into your son’s iCloud account but, again, you need both his Apple ID and Password.

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap your Apple ID banner.
3. Tap iCloud.
4. Scroll down and choose Find My iPhone.
5. Set Find My iPhone to Off.
6. Enter the Apple ID password for the account listed and tap Turn Off.
