iPhone 6 O2 sim unlock not worked

Hi there,

I recently bought a second hand iPhone from Ebay. The first thing I did when I got it was to do a factory reset and wipe the whole thing. I then tried to use my 3 sim in it.

I discovered that the phone was locked to the O2 network. After discussing with O2 support, they said I must be an O2 customer to unlock it.

So, I bought an O2 PAYG sim and used that in the phone, which worked fine - I was able to activate the device and set it up.

I then requested the unlock through O2. After I was notified of the success, I followed their instructions: Put the non-O2 sim card in the phone and connect to iTunes with the same Apple ID logged in that I had activated the phone with.

Nothing happened. The phone said 'No SIM' and all I saw on iTunes was the normal system info of the phone.

After contacting O2 support a number of times and them re-trying the unlocking process, they have said it is definitely unlocked and don't know why the phone is not responding the the 3 sim.

I have tried other things like resetting the iPhone back to factory defaults since and using the 3 sim, but still no luck.

Any idea on what I could do to make this work? Also worth noting the phone is up to date with iOS 11.3.1.

I suggest that you check with 3. Since you were able to activate the phone with an O2 SIM, it would lead one to believe there is no problem with the SIM reader in the phone. Since your 3 SIM is working in other phones, I wonder if it is how the SIM is programmed. I would check with them, they may have to provide you with a new SIM.

Try restoring the phone to factory again with the O2 SIM, and see if you get the Congratulations message, then try inserting the 3 SIM and if it will let you restore then.

You're supposed to restore the phone as new using iTunes, then you should've received a message saying " congrats your phone is now unlock", did you do that and receive that message?
