Why are some Calendar events highlighted on the monthly calendar and others not?

1. On the Mac monthly calendar display, each of my calendar events are designated a color from the color code, and gets displayed via a little colored dot next to event text.

2. Some events are also nicely highlighted (randomly) in that same color.

3. Others are not (randomly).

4. How can i get them ALL to be highlighted in their particular color?

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

Apple user cm,

It sounds like you have different calendars displayed. Click on the "Calendars" button in the upper-left corner of the Calendar window. That will display a list of the calendars you are using. Each calendar will be a different color, and events which belong to that specific calendar will be displayed using that color.

All day events on a monthly calendar are displayed using the full color background of their parent calendar. Timed events only display a colored dot which represents their parent calendar. If you click on a timed event, it will display the full color bar for the parent calendar.

I've had this problem in the "Month" view of iCal for ever.....I only have one calendar, and single day, timed, events refuse to display their category colour (although if I single-click on an event, the colour is displayed).

If the event is changed to "all-day" then the category colour is displayed (but in a much paler version of the required colour).

Default Public Holidays are displayed in the paler colour, as are events covering more than one day.

Single, timed, events are probably the ones you most want to see highlighted in colour?

The iCal "Week" view works, but all events display a paler version of the required colour.
