You may have another issue.

If this Apple Pencil has been just sitting around without it being kept charged up for two weeks, or more, there is a possibility the very tiny rechargeable Li-ion battery in the Pencil (smaller than the eraser head on a real wood pencil) maybe dead and your Apple is completely dead and useless and you may need to pay another $100 for another new Apple Pencil.

FYI and something Apple never divulges to it potential iPad Pro/Apple Pencil customers/users unless the potential customer/user is smart enough to ask about.

Due to the “always on an active/stanby” nature of the Apple Pencil and, also, due to its very tiny rechargeable Li-ion battery, the Apple Pencil needs to be constantly charged up to some significant charge level ALL THE TIME, even when not using the Pencil for prolonged periods of time.

The Apple Pencil needs to be kept charged to a minimum of 5-10%, or greater, all the time.

If the Apple Pencil battery is allowed to drain down to 0% and allowed to stay in that flat condition for more than a couple of weeks, or so, that very tiny little Li-ion battery is too small to keep at a 0% state for a long period of time and it will completely fail, leaving you with a dead, useless Apple Pencil.

My Apple Pencil was fine if left sitting idle (when unmoved it enters a low power, sleep state) for a couple of weeks when new. Even now, two years later it will sit idle just fine for a week or more. Don’t worry about a hypothetical issue until or unless you actually experience it. It uses industry standard SMART lithium battery technology.

It uses it’s accelerometer to enter a low power or sleep state if left, unmoved and idle, for about 15-20 minutes. And like all industry standard SMART lithium cells it shuts off at some minimal residual power state. As with any and every lithium cell, if left in that low power auto-off state too long, it may suffer damage, but yours is a new Apple Pencil, still under Apple’s one year warranty. So deal with any issues only when or if they even occur for you.

Yes. If you know for sure you won’t be using it, then it’s best to leave it sitting somewhere so it will stay in low power mode. Or, if you carry it around all the time anyway, just plug it into the iPad for 15-20 minutes to top it off.

If it doesn't charge within 12 to 24 hours, that tiny little battery in the Apple Pencil is dead.

There is a spare tip included in the Pencil box - in the sleeve with the lightening cable coupler. Pull the insert out of that cardboard sleeve and both of those parts are in plastic holders in the slide-out piece.
