install drivers for Epson V500 photo on MacOS 10.13.4

I've been attempting to install my Epson V500 on Macbook pro OS High Sierra 10.13.4. I want to use it to scan slides as before with this scanner. None of the drivers I've found will work properly. Has anyone had success with installing and can tell me of software that will install this scanner to function as it should?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4), null

scan as before

That only has meaning if you describe in detail how you used it before. We only know what you tell us.

None of the drivers I've found will work properly.

Epson is very clear about it: only one Recommended for you: “Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v4.0.2.0”, epson17312.dmg for Mac OS X 10.5 – macOS 10.13. This file contains the Epson Perfection V500 Series EPSON Scan Utility and Universal Binary Scanner Driver (TWAIN) v4.0.2.0.

You may optionally also want to download other Epson Utilities from the same page:

ICA Scanner Driver v5.8.7 for Image Capture – if you opt to use the scanner with the Apple Image Capture application.

Epson Event Manager v2.51.60 – scan from the Epson control panel

Epson Easy Photo Scan v1.0.16 – edit and share scans

Epson Software Updater v2.3.3 – update manager

Epson Copy Utility v4.0.3 – printer integration, to mimic a copier

EPSON Scan Common Updater v1.00 – fix for pauses and network saving

Thanks Urquhart 1244.

'as before' meant that in the past I'd been able to insert slides into the slide frame that came with the printer. The frame holds 4 slides which were automatically scanned and saved as separate images. It was a really slick operation.

I had earlier downloaded and installed all the drivers and utilities that you've suggested but this hasn't helped with scanning slides. The application is not recognising them as slides and doesn't give me the option of choosing the document type so I'm unable to select them as colour positive film.

I seem to be at a dead end so would really appreciate some more help if you or anyone has a bright idea.
