having trouble connecting to network. my carrier said its because my PRL shows only a number 1 and it should be a five digit number. i have reset the phone a half a dozen times or more and it keeps showing a 1 and just says “searching” any thoughts?

You can certainly restore your phone, either to factory state or from a back up. But, the PRL is provided by the carrier, just like the carrier settings. I don't think restoring your phone will help.

Did they give you instructions for updating the PRL?

Yeah I have restored and reset probably 6-8 Times now and it has done nothing. I’ve set it to a new phone, I have restored it from a backup and nothing...so I am starting to think it is their issue. I contacted them again and they said the way to update the PRL was to double tap carrier under about in settings but that did not do anything but scroll through different things

Tried and still nothing...interesting little tidbit at the end that said the network receiver could be malfunctioning in the phone

If that's the case, restoring the phone certainly won't do any good. It confirms my opinion of Straight Talk that customer service didn't, at the very least, direct you to that article.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store. They can diagnose it.

Best of luck.
