Why does my macbook always break my headphones?

Ever since I got a MacBook and plug my headphones in, only a month or two later my headphones stop working on my computer then break a week or two later and won't work on my phone either. I talked about it with my friend and I'm not the only one. Does Apple do this on purpose?? Do I need to buy Apple headphone? (because they hurt my ears)

thanks

I have several Macs in the house and none have broken the headphones in the 6+ years they have been here . I have worked on Macs and Windows PCs since 1995 and the only times headphones broke was either due to bad design in the assembly on the headphones ( ie ...cheap ) or a power surge destroying the pc . Your headphone jack has a very low voltage coming from it that the audio signal travels with . That very low voltage is to power the speaker coils in the headphones . Some headphones have ic chips in them that have other functions but have their own voltage regulation built into them . This is of very insignificant voltage variation and shouldn't interfere with the signal of the audio . There is a standard of output signal and voltage limits every component manufacture abides by . Maybe your headphones are faulty , maybe your Mac might have a fault that needs to be checked out at an Apple Store but this is not normal from Apple or any manufacture to make their devices break accessories just because . Have you Mac inspected or use better accessories with it ( or any pc ) as you get what you pay for .
