M-Audio Oxygen 8 Help needed

Hello,

I'm trying to install and use my M-Audio Oxygen 8 for Logic Pro (and other uses). I've installed the drivers and I'm not getting any response in Logic. I've plugged it directly by USB. Do I have to plug it into my interface(Tascam US-122) by MIDI? Things don't seem as automatic as I thought, what else do I have to do?

Maybe a stupid question, have you downloaded the most up to date drivers from M-Audio's website for your Mac Pro, you're on Intel so the drivers that come with the Oxygen 8 won't work with a Mac Pro, I've got an Oxygen 8 and I've had no problems with it on my Intel iMac.

Thank you Lo-Fi for your help. Not a stupid question. I checked the M-Audio website and found that for my Mac OS X 10.4.8 it is class compliant. I assume this means I don't need a driver update? As it does not lead me to any "download" button. Actually it states Oxygen 8 v2 on the website. I don't know whether this makes a difference for mine.

Any ideas on why this is not happening?

The V2 doesn't need drivers, but the original version does (I have the original version too)

Is it the original or V2 Oxygen 8? if you have the old one, you'll need to download the most up to date driver.

Thank you all,

I have solved the driver problem (the option of Oxygen8 was located away from the other Oxygen series).

I can play the keyboard in Garageband (set up automatically) but not in Logic. Do I have to set up for the keyboard?

Select an Instrument channel, select an instrument plug in and it should hopefully work from there.

Since it works in GarageBand, this probably won't help, but check AudioMidi Setup, and make sure your Oxygen 8 shows up there, hit "rescan Midi" even if it does, then launch Logic. Make sure when using Logic you don't have any other audio app grabbing at the Oxygen 8 (e.g. GarageBand). I have an Oxygen 8 on my intel Mac and with the latest MacTel driver, it originally showed up as connected to my MT4 midi interface (and it is not--it is connected directly via USB). After making that change in Audio Midi setup, it worked fine in Logic.

Thank you all for your help. I do need a little more. I have tried all you suggestions, but...

I am still not getting any sound in my headphones (connected to my Tascam Us-122), but there is activity in the MIDI activity window of the transport panel everytime I play the Oxygen 8. Also my midi out green light is lighting up everytime I play the keyboard. I'm just not getting any sound out of my headphones.

Can anyone suggest anything else? Once again in Garage Band I can hear everything.
