Lending an iPad. Backup, wipe, restore...

My mother in-law is considering buying an iPad. I don't use my iPad Pro much so I can be apart from it for a while if need be. I'm wondering if there is an efficient way to back up my iPad, wipe it clean, let her use it for a while, take it back and restore it to how it was before I loaned it to her? I'm not super tech savvy so if you have suggestions please consider taking the "pretend I'm stupid" approach!

Thanks,

Stuart

Make an iCloud backup, and for extra security, an iTunes encrypted backup. Then sign out of iCloud on it to remove activation lock, and erase all content and settings. Then she can set it up with her AppleID and use it. When you get it back, she does the same, and you restore from your backup.
