got taken a bit by surprise. i was immediately suspicious. got an email for an old apple id email addie telling me that the purchase of an itunes $50 gift card from a merchant had been approved.
Yes, scammers will try until someone fall for it.
Any "supposed" email from Apple not addressing you with your Full Name is a phishing attempt.
Like Dear Customer, Dear Client, Dear your-email-address, or something similar.

Same happened to me too.
Last year I fall to a phishing email and lost $400.
Now I know everything about phishing emails and I am very suspicious.
