Audiobook sorting/duplicates STILL broken

We are now onto iTunes v 12.7.4.x and after all this time, this known bug is STILL preventing Audiobooks from being correctly displayed or sorted.

Does Apple have any interest in fixing this? This was a known issue last year. Should I give up on iTunes for my library needs?

(on the off-chance there is anyone still unfamiliar with this bug, under the grid view, some Audiobooks appear as randomly duplicated (they are not actually duplicated - they just show up multiple times in the view) and sorting does not work in any functional or logical manner)

iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12.6), iTunes 12.7.4.80

Not sure what "Apple sell single track audiobooks" means or what it has to do with an iTunes fix of the sorting and grouping issue with Grid View.

It perhaps explains how the bug slipped through testing when it was first introduced into iTunes, although not why they have chosen not to fix it having been made aware of it. It has also been there on older iPods for as long as I've been using them, over 10 years at least. Perhaps more feedback from affected users is required. In the meantime the workaround scripts that I've made for both Mac & Windows still work,

Thank you for your reply tt2. The Author-Author sort trick does not work; the second Author sort is greyed out and not selectable when the first Author sort is selected.

If I get desperate, I will attempt to create the script you have developed - but don't you find it disturbing that Apple has not created a fix for this very, very basic problem yet? It feels like they are simply asleep at the wheel.
