*** trying to remove this and it's not listed as "mac"

I'm trying to remove this and it's not listed as "mac" anything in the Process Name column in the Activity Monitor. Does it go by some other name?

That may be a Browser window sub-task.

You may have a Browser window open showing that site. But considering what it is, it could be a hidden window or a pop-up that you can not yet see.

You could try quoting and re-launching your Browser, and holding Shift as you re-launch, to ask it NOT to re-open previously-opened windows.

if you cant find the app running in the activity monitor you can quit it if it is running in the dock.

you may post an etrecheck report for further analysis.

you can also try malwarebytes for mac to detect any mawlare

You may also try to remove this manually. See this link and apply the solution for the software mention to your specific package which may or may not address the problem.

I use Chrome, but went into the Settings menu and arrived at the "cookie" tab. Found various entries with "http:/app1.cleannow.pro" deleted the cookies then copied the above address and placed a copy in the "block websites section" of the cookie section of Chrome. Had to block 5 different websites as above, but with //app2.cleannow.pro, 3,4,5 etc!

It is long winded approach, but seems to work! I feel they will continue to morph the website name!
