Macbook CHARGES but won't TURN ON

I have a fairly old refurbished MacBook white unibody 09. It worked perfectly for quite some time, coming to a year yet then stopped working altogether. I was very busy at the time and had a Windows PC anyway, so fixing it wasn't a priority. However, now I am able to see if I can fix it as I have become less busy.

It doesn't turn on - flat out, just doesn't turn on. When plugged in, an orange light comes on. Have tried various outlets (e.g; 3 wall outlets & an extension outlet) but still won't turn on.

Any help?? Would love to have a Macbook again!
