iPhone X ghost touch - Warranty

Hello, its been about 5 months since I purchased my iPhone X and about a month ago it started we the ghost touch issue, this is annoying. Already restored, rebooted, etc etc, problem is still there. I've owned all iphones, this is the first one with issues (and the most expensive !).

The problem now is that I'm from Chile, and I purchased my phone in the US, so for some reason my model (A1865) is not covered by warranty in my country, what is that about ? $1,000 phone, and now I cannot use my warranty ? really Apple ?

I don't know what to do now with this faulty iPhone X.

Hope I can fix this in my country.

Giorgio.

The iPhone has never had an international warranty. The warranty for your iPhone X purchased in the US is only valid in the US. You will have to bring the phone back to the US if you need warranty service. This highlights the issues with purchasing a phone in a country you do not intend to use it in. You will only be able to get warranty service in the US.

Can I ship my phone somewhere to get it checked ?

Still cannot believe this, and I've read a lot about this screen issue.

If you have a friend/relative in the United States who you can ship it to, you should have no problem sending it to the United States and having someone bring it in for service. Other than that it's up to your local Apple service providers to decide whether or not they'll accept it for service.

It's in the warranty terms:

https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ios-warranty-document-us.html

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD AND APPLE TV SERVICE.

Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

Ok, so a friend is going to Miami next week, he will take my iphone to service.

Does he need the invoice?

The box ?

Anything ?

How many days does it usually take to check it and replace it, if this is the case?

Thanks !

I don't know exactly how that's going to work out. It could be resolved by anything from a same day screen assembly replacement to a "replacement device" in exchange for your current device. If there's no inventory in stock, it might require waiting for a replacement phone or a part. You have no way of knowing. That's why I was thinking it was better to have someone who actually lives in the United States, such that there's no reliance on the repair/replacement being ready quickly.

I would advise having the receipt just in case. However, any iPhone X should still be under warranty since they were released less than a year ago.

Make sure to have it backed up before sending it for service.
