Apple Recycling on Old Devices

this is not a question; it's a reply to question about Apple recycling. if your device is old & of little or no trade-in value, data doctors will do a clean wipe at no charge. you can then recycle your old device either w/Apple or data doctors. Apple will send a box & label to send your product if requested. i just did this w/my old MacBook.

Does Apple have a secure recycle program for destroying old devices? I have a completely dead 1st generation iPad that I would like to recylce. It's worth virtually nothing on eBay, and I'm pretty sure not eligible for trade-upgrade at Apple or AT&T. This device has photos, files, and passwords which I have no way of wiping. I'm concerned that if it fell into the wrong hands, a savvy hacker could access my personal data. Does Apple securely destroy and recycle old devices?
