AirDrop window inactive on my iMac

My iMac AirDrop window is blank when I try to AirDrop to and from my iPhone. Neither device sees the other. I have no problem using AirDrop with another iPhone. This is all I see:

Nothing else is visible in the window. Any idea what is wrong?

Your iMac is too old to use AirDrop with anything but another Mac. And, if the other Mac was made after 2012, you will have to put that Mac in legacy AirDrop mode to see your older iMac.
