Problem with USB Port operation...

One USB port on my (late) 2013 MacBook Pro seems to works for only one device: a seagate external hard drive. Any other device I plug into this usb port doesn't seem to work. I have tested all of the devices (for instance my dongle for usb-bluetooth keyboard/mouse, or a plug in microphone) in my other usb port and they ALL work fine in that port so i know it's not the usb devices. What can the problem be? Help! Thanks Community!
