Unable To Disable Holiday Calendar

I don't need iOS to track standard US Holidays and notify me of the upcoming events - I have followed the official bit and made sure as follows, but I still get reminded of the holidays regularly - how can I turn these off? This issue has been persistent for a long while now, across iPhones and iOS levels, finally fed up enough of ignoring it in the hopes that someone may have discovered a fix.
