Why does the Bookmark Favorites screen display boxes with letters for instead of the Website icons? The correct favicon is in the list but not displayed on the screen. I've tried to find an answer to this with no luck. Is there a way to correct those favicons?

If I'm understanding the context and question correctly...
Scaling a favicon-sized image for use at larger resolutions has very ugly results and particularly at the resolutions increasingly used, and which has led to Apple and other folks creating a plethora of different-sized icons. These in addition to the favicon that's used on many web sites.
Check whether the websites are offering the icons. Chances are, they are not, and an icon is being synthesized locally.
