happens almost every morning when i go to clear messages there is a blank one. upon opening it says unknown message and you left the message usually always at 3am.

Do you have iMessage enabled? Maybe try disabling it temporarily to see if the issue reoccurs. If not and it looks like it's caused by iMessage you might want to try contacting Apple for support.
Thank you I will try that. I have contacted apple support and they had me power cycle it down with my iphone and reset settings. That didn't work. I will try what you suggested.
