Since updating my system software to the current system, I can't send or receive imessages from anyone with an Android phone. It was working just fine, and then after the update it isn't. Any ideas?

Only if you also have an iPhone.
You cannot use iMessage to send messages Android phones.
You can only do SMS/MMS via your iPhone.

Android users have never been able to send or receive iMessages.
They (and you, when communicating to them) can only use your cellular carrier's SMS messaging system.
Ask your cellular carrier if you're having issues.
