I want to buy Apple Watch from a friend. How can I be sure that this is not a fake?

I understand you want to buy your friend's Apple Watch. To determine if it is a genuine Apple product, you could ask your friend to show you his/her receipt or product packaging. Also, you can look at the model number engraved on the back of it.
Identify your Apple Watch
- Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) requires an iPhone 6 or later with iOS 11 or later.
- Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) requires an iPhone 5s or later with iOS 11 or later.
- Apple Watch Series 1 requires an iPhone 5s or later with iOS 11 or later.
Before you purchase the Apple Watch, make sure that your friend has turned off Activation Lock and unpaired it from his/her iPhone. Otherwise, the Apple Watch will be useless to you.
