Every few minutes I am getting a dialogue box with a Facebook logo asking me to enter my email account password into system preferences.
System preferences already has my email password entered.
If I re-enter it I just get the dialogue box requesting me to re-enter it again.
If I enter cancel 4 times the dialogue box disappears for a few minutes then comes back.

I followed your link, but none of the suggested works for me as being described in my initial post.
Thanks. I have updated my iOS to High Sierra and the problem with the repeated request from Facebook for my email password seems to have been resolved.
