apple pay

I have attempted to add two major credit cards to my wallet in my iPhone 8, and both state they are not supported at this time, even though Chase is on the list. Both cards are issued by MasterCard. One is a SamsClub card, the other a Chase card. Both have chips, but all new cards have chips, so I’m curious as to why I am unable to add either card to Apple pay?
