My 2013 MacBook Pro will not open. I tried command R and did a restore using the Time Machine. It took several hours but now I still have the same problem—I see the Apple icon and the updating bar but the computer will not start.

What is the year/model of your Mac (do not post the serial number)? Does it show any written words, or just a plain progress bar?
If you were able to successfully restore from a TM backup, the hardware should be fine.

It’s a 2013. I tried the restore yesterday with Time Machine and it didn’t work. After several hours I again got the progress bar and could not go beyond that. It looked like it was going to work because I did a first aid repair and started on installing other things but ended up with nothing.

All I can see is the Apple icon and an updating bar. I cannot open the computer.
If your TM backup is recent, have you considered erasing the internal disk? What were the errors during restore? What is the current version of macOS?
I think I will call Apple Support. The last time this happened I did everything they told me to no avail and I ended up taking it in. They charged $100.00!
You may be able to use Internet Recovery and reinstall macOS and upgrade to the version you originally had on the disk and then restore your backups.
