MP3 player?

Is there a good MP3 player app for iPad that will play mp3 files? I used to connect my old 2nd gen iPod Touch to the PC and transfer mp3 files to it that would play in the music app, sorted according to the mp3 tag data (usually recorded radio talks or downloaded podcasts). It doesn't work any more (the battery gave up) so I invested in a new 128GB iPad for this and other purposes but all the apps only appear to give you the option of paid download music from their rubbish libraries. There doesn’t appear to be an iPad iTunes app any more either, like there is for the PC.

Or is this a bid to stop people listening to 'free' music? If so, I'm going to have to get my tweezers out and try an change the battery in my trusty old iPod!

Thanks.

1. There has never been an iTunes app on an iPad like there is on a computer. The Apps on an iPad have always been 2: The iTunes Store and the Music app.

The original app that could play back mp3s on iOS devices was called the iPod App in allusion to previous devices of that name.

It was later renamed to simply "Music". Current iPads have the Music App installed by default, and it can still play mp3s directly by syncing them from iTunes as you would normally on an iPod.

The music App icon looks like this: User uploaded file

You can sync mp3 to it via iTunes as follows: Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB - Apple Support

The synced files will appear in the Library section of the App.

Alternatively you can try Apps such as MoliPlayer or VLC if you want to and transfer your MP3s to them using the File Sharing feature in iTunes.

Thanks Phil0124, I looked at the Music app but it's not obvious that you can import mp3 files. The only options are Library (says "Music you purchased from the iTunes Store will appear here"), For You (to find albums based on previous purchases), Browse (to look for music to buy), Radio (another way of buying music) and Search (for finding tracks that you've bought). I'll try syncing files using iTunes and see what appears in the Library 🙂.
