How do I export a movie file from an iMac to an iPad
Is there a way to transfer a movie file (came from a recording done on an iPhone) from an iMac to
imac desktop 2.4g, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Depends on exactly what you want to do with it once its on an iPad.
You can add the file to iTunes, and the sync it to the iPad and it will appear in the TV App. There you can only play it back.

It you want to edit it in say iMovie or another movie editing app on the iPad you can use the iTunes File sharing option to copy it to that particular App on the iPad.

Otherwise, you can upload it to iCloud drive and access it through the Files app on the iPad.
