Keep getting a popup asking to enter my Facebook password into system preferences, even after I entered password, which it said it could not verify. Then I created a different password for FB, which it did not accept either

Does anyone know if this is a virus? Doing a search of the problem shows it happens year after year in the US and other countries.
Seems like a scam since I do not have to enter anything per usual when opening FB
I don't think it is a problem with FB - it pop-up at random times, when I'm not on FB. Appears to be phishing, but I'd like to get rid of it- get tired of hitting the X to close it ( never going to click on 'continue' - that's for sure) I am running Norton & have done complete scans- nothing shows up.

I removed the pop-up!!!. Go to system preferences, internet accounts, click on Facebook,go to the bottom, uncheck enable this account, then recheck it. The pop-up has disappeared.

Thanks- it has been working for about a week- fingers crossed. These silly bugs shouldn't happen, and Apple should be the ones trying to fix it when people are complaining. i guess it's more efficient if the public can fix the 'small' stuff. That freezing problem wasn't small- not sure they ever got involved.

Contact tech support for FaceBook if you are having problems with its login.
I saw the many years this problem existed. Deleting FB account then recovering it worked for two users. I was reluctant to try this.
